Post-Christmas Adventures!

After a relaxing Boxing Day, the 27th started off with a bang--of the oven door!  We were having friends over--the Miller's--for lunch & games, and Mom was washing some dishes while biscuits were baking in the oven.  Suddenly, Mom heard a bang and she looked over to see that the outer glass of our oven had shattered!  Mom & Dad took a couple pictures, swept up the shards, found the receipt, and headed off to Nakumatt!  We were able to get it fixed within a couple days and with minimal hassle, so we were thankful for that!

Fortunately, there is also an inner glass in the oven door, so the biscuits were fine and we had a great lunch & game of Outburst with the Miller's.

For the game, we swapped parents & kids!

The Soucy's son, Ben, visited over the holidays and we got together on the 29th after church.

We spent New Year's Eve at home as a family.  We watched Larry Boy & the Bad Apple, had some snacks & played several games together.

Dutch Blitz!!!

I've been sick off and on for the past few weeks, but it wasn't until New Year's Eve that we finally put together that I probably had tonsillitis!  So, Wednesday morning we headed off to the 7th Day Adventist clinic for the first time and both tonsils were infected.  I was put on antibiotics, but they made me feel worse than the tonsillitis, so I was out of action until the next Wednesday.

Both Caleb & I started back to school on Wednesday (I had planned to start the week before, but because of my antibiotics only got one day in before deciding to just wait!).  Caleb had to pass a computer test in order to be able to go to his elective, art, instead of a computer class.  And he did pass it!  Unfortunately, he got the flu on Thursday morning and it took him until Saturday to feel like himself again.

One of my courses this semester is photography, which I am already LOVING!  Because of that, I've been out taking more pictures again...

If anybody who reads this is into photography, the only difference between these two pictures is the aperture, and thus the depth of field!  So cool!!

And this is Caleb putting up with me trying out something to do with shutter speed and aperture...but also just being him & making it fun...

We've also had a chance to make several Skype calls throughout the holidays.

We did one after Christmas with Uncle Joe's & Nanny and Grampie in Pugash...

And then we finally managed to find a time that we could Skype with all of the TN Bustins...

Next we decided to mix it up a bit and switch hemispheres & continents with the Ullum's!

It's so great to be able to keep in touch with people that way!

This afternoon it finally worked out to be able to have our night guard, Faustin, and his wife & little girl over for lunch.  It was our first time meeting his wife & daughter--who is really, really cute!  Even though they don't have much English and we don't have much Kinyarwanda, it still went well and we had a good time!

Have a great week, everybody!
