KICS Spring Break coincided with Rwanda's national Week of Mourning (remembering the genocide). Because of this, many people leave the country during this time. However, we decided to hunker down at home, spend lots of time together as a family and visit with a couple of families who were also around during this week. This is mostly going to be a photo update, so here we go!
On the Friday leading into Break, we had the Gaskill's over for a very belated Dutch Blitz Extravaganza birthday celebration for Caleb!
This pretty much sums up the night!
On Sunday, Caleb & I had the opportunity to sing together at church.
And in the evening, we had our Easter Dinner one week late---it was absolutely amazing!

Including Stove Top stuffing mix from Canada and gravy & cranberry sauce! |
On Monday afternoon, we were able to have the Urquhart family over for games & supper. Both Ella and Weston play on the KICS JV football team with Caleb.

The Dad's playing Road Hog with the "younger kids." |
We've been saving a couple of candy canes from Canada from Christmas, and Mom was able to buy some white chocolate..... this equation equals delicious bark!
We spent many hours playing many different games together!
Later on in the week, we were able to have Theis and Pernille over for the afternoon to play some games. They are two Danes who are living here in Kigali for four months, working with youth.

...and a more normal Dad! |
On Saturday evening, we were able to have the Gaskill's over (yes, twice in 8 days!) to celebrate my birthday! We had sub-sandwiches for supper, played "Oh Stink!" and "Balderdash" and had cake with "chicken bone" candy frosting (cinnamon and chocolate)!
Lighting the candles...
....however, we bought "sparkler" candles when we were in Kenya, so much of the time, I actually looked like this! :-)
So, to summarise, we had a wonderful Spring Break! Whether it was playing the Wii together, watching a movie together, or playing a game together, the important thing was that we were doing it together!
Sounds like a fun time and lots of good food and games.
