I decided to take Randi's advice and start my own blog...and I also decided there's no time like the present to try it out! So here's my first post.
We landed in Kigali around 7:00 PM Monday night. FYI - Kigali is 6 hours ahead of Moncton. After getting in the wrong line up originally and having to go in circles a bit, we headed down to get our luggage which ended up being in the last 15 pieces of luggage brought in! We then headed "home" to the Soucy's house, got settled, and headed to bed. We all must have been exhausted, because we all slept well.
This morning we had our official introduction and meeting with Pastor Andre, the legal representative of our partner AEBR, and then had lunch with Colin, Gato, and Andre (note: To make it more confusing, there are 2 Andre's. One is with the AEBR and the second is our CBM National Field Staff [which Gato is as well]). Then we went and saw the CBM office here in Kigali, talked for a bit, and headed to Caleb's school KICS to meet the principal and get a tour. We went with Colin to check out a grocery store and eat supper, and now we're back home for the night. The jet lag is opposite to what we're used to, as it's hard to go to bed on time, and then it's still the middle of the night body-time when we have to get up.
We were feeling a bit homesick until we came upon this sign showing us where to go!! :-) |
We've enjoyed our day here, getting used to all the hills! It's also been interesting to see what's similar to Indonesia and what's not. And it's a totally different experience for Caleb and I this time around, as we're so much older. Oh, we're also working on our first Kinyarwandan word: murakoze [thank-you]!
