Friday, September 21

On Tuesday night, we were invited to Pastor Andre's house with the Soucy's.  It was a good evening, and we got have some more Rwandan food.

Exciting news!!  Our couch & chairs were delivered on Wednesday!!!  When they delivered them, however, only a driver came, so it was up to him & Dad to carry everything...which meant they landed upstairs, not downstairs.  While the couch is heavy enough to need a few strong men, Dad figured that he and Faustin could carry the chairs downstairs.  Once Faustin figured out that Dad wanted to take them downstairs, he had a different idea - his head!!!

Coming down the outside stairs...

...and into the house!

We are getting ready to head out to Caleb's first KICS soccer game!!  I'll post some pictures from the game later on, but for now...GO KITES!!!!!

Butare! - September 16, 2012

Sorry, it's been a pretty silent week.  I had 2 tests today, as well as a project on the go, so most of my time has been taken up with school.  Caleb also had a lot of homework this week.

Last Sunday we drove 2 hours to the Southwest to the region of Butare.  We weren't in the city, but we were in that region.  Mrs. Alivera travelled with us again (Pastor Andre's wife).  We were told that the terrain was not going to have hills; we discovered it is not a matter of having hills, but how steep they are!  It was still very hill-y!

on the way to church
This time the service was inside and very packed!  We were up front on the stage with other visitors and pastors.  We seemed to have missed most of the choirs, and the service only went till 1:20, I think.

There were kids and people hanging in all the windows.

And there were probably around 10 people in that van too!

One thing that I missed getting a good picture of was fields of papyrus!  This isn't my picture, but it looked similar to this:
